Welcome Kiosks

Setting up the kiosk

  1. Find the kiosks in the Ministry Centre and put them in place.

  2. Turn on/wake up the tablet using the button on the right hand-side of the device.

  3. Swipe up on the tablet and unlock it using the pin ‘1984’.

  4. Open chrome and select the appropriate service. You need to check that the appropriate service is logged in. If another service has been left open, swipe up, hold the chrome button and close the open service window. (See the video to the right.)

  5. Check that the light is green on the printer.

  6. Test the process by checking in yourself.

  7. Catch the name tag (as they will go flying!).

Welcoming with the kiosk

The kiosks should free up welcomers and allow more conversations to occur. Welcomers won’t have to look for labels, so can focus on people.

Be aware of new people. Check them in yourself to make the experience more personal. Chat with them.

Before the service, one welcomer should be with the devices and additional welcomers can be out welcoming people as they come in through the gates.

Leave the kiosk on and out, but head into church after the second song.

Packing up the kiosk

  1. At the end of the service, move the devices into the ministry centre.

  2. Move cables inside as well.

  3. Check for trip hazards.

Helping people use the kiosks

  • New people

If a new person visits, hit ‘new’. Add the person’s first and last name. An email address can also be added - this will help us to keep in contact with them and goes directly into Elvanto for follow up the next day. They can choose not to give email address this is their preference.

  • Existing members

Existing members might also need help if they’re less familiar with the system.

Troubleshooting FAQs

  • How do I replace the labels? (See the video to the right.)

Open the screen and take out the black insert.

Place in a new roll face down.

Follow the arrow on the label and feed it towards the front of device.

If the red light comes on when the screen is closed again, re-open it and jiggle the roll.

Once the light is green on printer, you can use the feed button to check it’s all working. This will feed a blank label.

  • What if someone doesn’t want a name label?

That’s fine! Welcome them warmly and note them as a guest on the Membership Report.

  • What do I do if I can’t get the tablet to work?

  • What if someone tells us there’s a mistake on their name label?

If there’s a mistake, it’s important to let the church admin staff know. Fill in the details on a Membership Report sheet and leave it in the service bag.

  • What if the printer isn’t printing?

    Check the power.

Check that there are labels in the printer and make sure they are feeding correctly.

  • How do I record any comments or observations about my welcoming?

Fill any comments or observations on a Membership Report sheet and leave it in the service bag.
