Wisdom in 2018

Welcome to church today. Perhaps, like me, you are wondering where the summer has gone. Yes, I appreciate that it is still technically summer. What I mean is that the routine of the year is about to kick in (for those who are not already back at work) – and it is easy not to be ready. It is easy to be distracted. It is easy to be reactive, rather than proactive.

The Bible teaches us everything that one needs for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). 2017 was one that will be remembered for the shifting foundations of our society, the ongoing and constant threat of terrorism, and the continuing uncertainty of our world.

Did you know that wisdom was the first of God’s works (Proverbs 1:7)? He has embedded it everywhere. And one of the constant themes in Proverbs is to learn from this wisdom, and think about cause and effect.

As the year begins in earnest, it is worth thinking about your spiritual life. The wisdom of Proverbs would suggest that few things are more important than investing in your spiritual life, with a view to the future.

With this in mind, I want to encourage everyone across TAC to join and commit to being part of a Growth Group this year. Many would tell of their experience that such groups have enabled them to connect with others and grow in their relationship with Jesus.

What more important investment could you make?
