Welcome to Vision Month
Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47
I love this insight into the early church that we find in Acts. It is a beautiful picture of the body of believers sharing and caring together, worshipping God and seeing more people being saved, through giving their lives to the Lord Jesus. What an exciting time it must have been!
When our family joined Toongabbie Anglican over 20 years ago, it was a bit different to what we experience now. Like the early church, we were a group of believers gathered around God’s word and encouraging each other. We were smaller in number and perhaps not as reflective of the multicultural area that was growing in number and diversity around us.
Roll forward 20 years and things have certainly changed! It is great to see new people in our services each week from younger and older and everyone in between, people from different cultural backgrounds, people with different work and education experiences, families, singles and couples. The love of Christ binds us together as a church family. We have our differences and disagreements, but we strive for unity in love as we seek to share Jesus with our community and see the Lord add to our number those who are being saved.
I wonder what the next 20 years will hold? I’m praying that even more will join us as we pursue our vision of being an ever-growing, diverse church family. Happy Vison Month!
