Using your gifts to serve

We’d love to see everyone at TAC using the gifts they have been given to serve God, the church and the community. Sometimes, though, it can be overwhelming to know where to start. We want to help you discern how you can use your gifts and your passions to be an active member of the body of Christ. As a church, we also have particular need in certain areas. Please prayerfully consider how you might be involved.

A good place to start is to reflect on your gifts and passions.

Gifts - Administration, Logistics, Teaching, Hospitality, Music, Caring for People, Design, Sharing Jesus, Conversations, Event Management

Passions - Caring for the Community, Outreach, Sunday Church, New People, Growth in People

Then take a look at the opportunities below. Particular areas of need are marked with an asterisk (*).

Our vision is to be united and transformed by the grace of Jesus.

Transformation requires people who know how to teach God’s word to adults and children while also listening, praying and asking good questions of life and faith. If you are someone who is gifted in caring for others, teaching others and praying for others, these roles might suit you.

Growth Groups

Our growth groups are hubs of connection and community, where God’s word is studied and people can pray for one another.

ToonieKids Team * (there is currently significant need for more leaders and helpers on Sunday mornings)

Kids’ ministry is a place where children can learn about Jesus’ love and have fun in an age-appropriate way. We are always looking for more leaders and helpers to help share Jesus with children. ToonieKids Church happens during the morning church services each Sunday and ToonieKids Week takes place during the mid-year school holidays each year.

One80 Youth Team *

Youth are often asking big questions about faith. The youth programs provide fun and fellowship while allowing them to explore the role of faith in their lives. One80 runs on Friday night and One80 Garage runs during the morning church services on Sundays.

SRE *

SRE is a wonderful opportunity to serve our community while teaching young people the gospel. This ministry can have a great impact and training is available.

We want our Sunday gatherings to be encouraging and God-honouring.

On Sundays, we need people using their gifts of hospitality, administration, musical and technical abilities to make sure Jesus is known and loved.

Welcoming Team * (particularly at the 8.45am service)

Welcoming helps people feel more comfortable and connected as they encounter our church.

Hospitality Team

Hospitality is a practical way of loving people by connecting with them, serving food and making coffee.

Tech Team

The tech team primarily runs the audio, visual material, videos and live-streaming on Sundays. (You don’t need to be an expert - training is available!)

Music Team * (we particularly have a need for musicians at the morning services)

Music teams encourage our hearts by leading us in worship.

Service Team

This involves those who lead the service, lead prayers, read the Bible or record the TACLife Update.

We want to love each other deeply and serve our community boldly.

At TAC we care for our community and want to create opportunities for relationships and conversations to grow.

ToonieKids@Play

Kids@Play is a group for babies, toddler, preschoolers and their carers. It runs on Tuesday mornings, from 9.45-11.30am and is a great way to connect with local families.

Anglicare Food Drives and Toys ‘N’ Tucker

These are practical opportunities to show the love of Jesus throughout the year.

Christian Care Team

The Christian Care Team aims to show the love of Jesus to people (generally within our church) who need extra support in the form of meals, prayer or other practical help.

Outreach Team

We want to reach our neighbours with the gospel of Jesus.

Mission Support Team

This team provides greater awareness of what God is doing in other corners of the globe and helps equip and encourage our church to serve and support global mission.

Prayer Support Team

This team helps keep prayer on the agenda by sending out prayer points and running prayer events through the year.

Mothers Union

Mothers Union members around the world volunteer to run various grassroots ministries focused on meeting families at their point of need.

We want to create great events that build up our church family and introduce people to Jesus.

We love to connect with people and celebrate the good things that God has given us in life and in Jesus. This requires people to use their creativity, event management skills, musical ability, their joy at starting conversations, advertising and many other gifts. Events might include:

  • Special church-wide festivals and services

  • Events to build community and connection in our church family

  • Events designed for outreach - to connect with our local community
